Our firm recently filed a lawsuit on behalf of a counselor who works for EAST LOS ANGELES AlCOHOLISM COUNCIL for unpaid wages (see copy of complaint attached).
In his lawsuit, Mr. Campos contends that his employer did not comply with the requirements under California law for payment of wages. In particular, he was working long hours, and supposedly being paid for hours worked. That’s what his earnings statements seemed to show. But he was only paid for when he was seeing customers. Sort of like only paying a mechanic when he does the work - even if he has to stay at the shop all day. The lawsuit seeks damages for minimum wage violations, overtime, missed meal and rest breaks, inaccurate wage statements.
Did you know that if you are an hourly employee and you work an 8-hour day and don't get at least one-half hour off - doing no work at all - for a meal break, you are owed one hour's pay?
If we’re successful, this will allow Mr. Campos to receive back wages which we contend he has been owed for several years.
The court has not yet ruled on any of Plaintiff's allegations.
