Some people hold on to them, not wanting to cash them for their own reasons, but you and they absolutely have to keep that time limit in mind. The deadline is the deadline.

Even before the date formerly set for hearing next week, the Court, the Honorable Stephen V. Wilson, granted our Motion for Final Approval approving our Class Action Settlement on November 15, 2018.
Disbursement of the funds will be made by Phoenix Class Actions Administration Solutions, the Third Party Administrator for this case.

Because of a slight delay in the court granting our motion for preliminary approval, the notice that many of you have been expecting have not yet been mailed out.

On November 3, 2015, our firm filed a proposed class-action lawsuit in San Bernardino County, case no. CIVD81516106, against Daily News LLC, and Local Media Group, Inc., on behalf of Newspaper Carriers who worked in California since November, 2011. A copy of the complaint is attached here. It was later removed to federal court and is now designated as case no. 5:16-cv-02039-SVW-KK.
We held off on putting this case up on our website because defendant Local Media Group tried to get the case dismissed via bankruptcy. After a long period of time and filings, the bankruptcy court released us from the bankruptcy proceeding, such that our case is now pending in federal court. We are currently in the process of attempting to have the case put back in state court, where it was originally filed.
Whether the court will grant our request will be determined, we believe, sometime in November, 2016.
This case is filed on behalf of individuals who worked as independent contractors in California as drivers or deliverers or other similarly situated non-exempt employees for Local Media Group at any time since November 3, 2011.
In his lawsuit, Plaintiff contends that Local Media Group did not comply with the requirements under California law for payment of wages. If successful, a class action allows former and current employees to receive back wages that are owed to them.
The court has not yet ruled on any of Plaintiff's allegations or determined whether the case is appropriate for class action status.
